B-Hype: One Step At A Time

Posted by atomicstudioslondon on April 6, 2011 at 12:48 PM Comments comments (0)

Songwriter, MC and music producer, B-hype is a creative artist that takes his time while making the most of it.

Hailing from South London, he has been carefully crafting his skills since 2002 as an MC and then as a music producer. In 2005, he opened his commercial recording studio at Atomic Studios London with the seasoned beatmaker, long time music partner, and friend Rootz. RNB Entertainement - standing for Rootz & B-Hype Productions - was created.

Blending all urban music influences from Hip-Hop to Grime through Dance and House, B-hype makes the most of his versatility and spontaneity as a music producer and as a performer as well to reflect his artistic vision on his work and to keep that energy throughout the production process. To him, the mood, the vibe of the song, and its production value matters more than anything else.

Though, B-Hype doesn’t consider music production as a single workflow. His long-time partnership with Rootz shows that, but his approach with artists also sheds light on a man that doesn’t play down the association of ideas - a key element for creativity.

Teaming up with the artists/performers, knowing their philosophy, and coming up with new and original ideas together is also a task taken on by the producer.

B-Hype uses his recording studio both for personal and commercial projects.

His partner - Rootz - and he provides as simple a service as recording artists as well as comprehensive production services such as fully-produced albums or EPs comprising  songwriting, recording, mixing, mastering and even artwork designing as necessary.

His recent projects have involved in working with the British MC, musician and actor Ashley Walters a.k.a. Ashley D, better known for being a member of the late and infamous UK Garage band So Solid Crew.

B-Hype settled his business at Atomic Studios in 2005 once he decided to run his own music production company. Located at the Tower Bridge Business Complex in the past, B-Hype decided to continue working with Atomic Studios London when the studio-space-management company moved in South Bermondsey.

“I’ve known Rob since 2005 when I settled RNB Entertainment in the Tower Bridge Complex. We’ve gotten along with each other, and the space-letting service that he provides has been great so far. There wasn’t any reason for me to move on”.

Recently, B-Hype has focused more on his career and has started the promotion of the highly anticipated mixtape “One Step At A Time” to be released mid-2011.

He is currently in live tour and has performed at The Runway Club in the WestEnd, the Alibi Room in Chelsea, No 5 in Marylebone, and the Anaya Club in Mayfair where he is going back  next week to perform as a support act for the breaking LA-based rapper Mann.

This street promotion approach matters to him:

“It all comes to that. You are not making music for yourself. You want to reach and move people. Of course, now you can reach music fans on the Web and you can do amazing things that wasn’t possible ten years ago but the relationship is not as direct it seems.

I tour as much as I can to meet new audiences. I want to share something with them when I’m on stage and I want to talk to them. You know! When you shake people hands and you talk about what you do! I’ve got this old school element that makes me want to feel things for real”.

B-Hype has taken his time to hone his craft, to get the knowledge, skills and attitude to succeed with an audience always eager for new and original music.

Now B-Hype is a busy person. He took his time but took time to do it well.

B-Hype - “One Step At A Time”, Out mid-2011 on Itunes.

Hot Money never sleeps...

Posted by atomicstudioslondon on March 10, 2011 at 3:09 PM Comments comments (0)

Hot Money Production is a music production company that has settled at Atomic for more than 2 years now.

They provide recording, mixing and mastering services, but most interestingly, production packages with additional services such as songwriting and arrangement productions in line with the Grime, Electro, Pop, Hip-Hop and R&B genres.

The founder, manager and lead engineer/producer Efexx has had an entrepreneurial approach to his business since the beginning: creating the most cost-efficient music production services.

Thus, developing services that match the current market as well as building up relationships with past and prospective clients, and then reflecting that philosophy onto the firm’s actual image has always been his main attention.

With clever communication and promotion through the new media, notably the social networks, the company masters that image well - an image based on high quality products.

The establishment has definitely adopted the right approach.

That care for high-standard has elicited response within the UK music scene and has led Hot Money Productions to work with as talented and creative artists as Aggro Santos, Wiley, Jay Sean, P Money, Griminal, Nu Brand, and Esmee Denter to name but a few.

In addition, the clever use of the new media tools now enables Hot Money to work internationally as the work with artists from the West Indies and the Middle East recently has showed.

Incidentally, Atomic Studios London is keen to acknowledge Hot Money’s success which is embodied by the opening of Hot Money’s second studio within the premises 2 weeks ago.

The community spirit that exists in here led Efexx to settle his business at Atomic:

“I enjoy working here. There is a particular atmosphere that get you to focus on your art and be more creative. Your work can only be but better.

Besides, there is a community spirit in here. This has created new opportunities for my business. A lot of people stop by the place so it is a plus for networking and finding new collaborations”.

Hot Money Productions makes use of a large array of tools to provide the best services but Efexx is keen to say that Logic Studio Pro running on the 2 Apple Mac Pros is the crux of the company’s workflow.

When it comes to music production, be sure that money never sleeps when handled by Hot Money Productions...

Zion and Golden Productions at Atomic Studios London

Posted by atomicstudioslondon on March 10, 2011 at 11:02 AM Comments comments (0)

Zion

Zion [ˈzaɪən], n.: an imaginary place considered to be perfect or ideal [...]. Over time, the term has taken on a more spiritual meaning like a kind of peace of mind in one's present life (Oxford Dictionary).

This is exactly what you kind of feel when you come into Zion’s recording studio, here at Atomic.

Zion is a record producer with already 15 years experience in that field.

Getting familiarised with music at a very early age, while his father set up his sound system, Zion’s love for music led him to become a DJ in his teenage and used to mix various genres such as Jungle, Deep House, Garage and R&B.

Spending most of his time looking for the latest releases to mix, he quickly realised he couldn’t satisfy his crave for new music and in the late ‘90s, decided to make it on his own. Thus, he started his own record shop/label: All Good Records whereby the infamous UK Garage track “Truly” by Sovereign was released in 2000.

Nowadays,  Zion runs his music production company Golden Productions. His experience in the music industry and as a DJ leads him to comprehend trends and to produce music in many genres from Dubstep to Pop through Garage and House.

Incidentally, he has just started a new record label specialised in House music: Furnished Records.

His latest gigs have got him involved in artist development projects soon to be heard of.

Zion set his first recording studio 8 years ago and has settled at Atomic Studios London for more than 2 years now.

He decided to do so after having dealt with Rob Rawlinson - Atomic’s general manager - in the past and has enjoyed his relationship with him since then.

“Rob personally knows people in here. As a music producer himself, he knows the logic and dynamic of this business. That makes him a preferential landlord when it comes to pay the rent!

It is good being here. It is always hectic. That’s good for networking as well.

Everybody knows each other and even if most of us run our own businesses, it doesn’t prevent us from helping one another. Rob just cut a guitar track for me the other day. There is definitely a warm and family feeling here”.

Zion’s favourite gears are wide and vast but having started back in the “old days” (matter of perspective, of course!), he can’t put aside his long-time choice hardwares such as his synthesizer Little Phatty by Moog, his various DBX and TLA compressors, and his digital converters Ensemble by Apogee.

“I grew up during the analog era but I make the most of the digital domain and use the best of both worlds. You can do crazy stuff nowadays!”.

Garbz

Today, I’d like to shed light on one of the numerous music producers that have settled at Atomic Studios London.

I would like to introduce you to Sean Garber a.k.a. ‘Super Producer’ Garbz!

Garbz is originally from the 2000s UK Grime scene and has produced artists such as Ghetts and Baby Blue.

Acknowledged as an unequalled remixer, his talents was noted with the releases of “Get Familiar: The remixes” in 2006 and “Garbz Presents: Through My Eyes” in 2007 where you can listen to remixed tracks by artists such as Ludacris, T-Pain, Lil’ Wayne, and Rihanna among others.

Nowadays, Garbz’ productions are in line with the Hip-Pop/Electro-Grime scene. He works with songwriters and artists-performers as diverse as they are to come up with the best creative solutions to his music productions.

Garbz has settled at Atomic Studios London for around 7 months.

The atmosphere and the vibe that exist in here have definitively convinced him to stop by the place:

“Being at Atomic, I can really focus on my music. The fees are fair and it’s a great place to make some business connections too!”.

His favourite gears are his Apple IMac computer, Logic Studio Pro, his KRK monitoring system, but above all, the ReFX' Vanguard software synthesiser he largely produces music with!

Sound Design and Post Production @ Atomic

Posted by atomicstudioslondon on February 21, 2011 at 3:53 PM Comments comments (0)

Today, Atomic Studios London would like to shed light on the work of Nico Metten - independent audio engineer and sound designer.

Nico settled at Atomic Studios to run his studio specialised in post production in 2010. He works on post production projects such as films and documentaries as the audio specialist.

His role is to design as simple sound effects as footsteps, or as sophisticated as laser-quest-battle-in-the-outta-space kind of sounds!

Then, he edits them and adds them onto films' soundtracks to enhance the dramatic aspect of the stories.

Who haven't freaked out while watchi... listening to the sloth waking up in "Se7en" or the chainsaw terrific sound in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"?!

Well, this is his job to do that!

These days, he's been working on "Dolls Can't Cry" - a psychological drama feature film by Aleksandra Czenzcek and produced by the independent and London-based production company Moldafish.

Earlier today, Nico told us that Atomic's services are brilliant and perfectly correspond to today's reality of the audio and music market.

Nowadays, anyone can set up affordable but high standard equipment in spaces not bigger than your living room.

In taking account of this reality and in making the most of the opportunities that the digital technologies allow, Atomic Studios London knows how to address this demand and provides affordable studio space rentals for short or long-term periods!

New talents @ Atomic

Alfee

As our oldest followers know, Atomic Studios London has always been a huge supporter of promising talents.

To name a few, Dizzee Rascal started being produced here, as was Tinie Tempah. Grammy award winning singer-songwriter Imogen Heap spent some time in here as well. She even mortgaged her flat and settled here for a year so as to record "Speak For Yourself", her second album.

These days, we've been delighted to have an up-and-coming girl band on board. Those lovely girls - Polly, Vicky,  Lauren and Charlotte - call themselves Alfee. They are all-round performers singing, dancing and acting on stage! Some compare their talents to those of the Pussy Cat Dolls! Have your opinion!

Under the wing of AAB Talent Group, they are recording materials to be released on their debut album with Zion, record producer and founder of Golden Productions.
